1/500th of a Second

Dear Great Gran,
it was lovely to see you last weekend.

For the purposes of trying to get a passport photo for Ruth, I've been trying to get a photo that meets the government's exacting standards i.e. looking directly at the camera with eyes open, mouth closed, neutral expression, head not tilted, shoulders square on, both edges of faces visible etc.

Taxes, Piano for Eight Hands & Penguin Scones

Dear Great Gran,

Ruth and I went along this morning to the open day held by Rohan's work place - the tax office. The event was to celebrate the opening of their new digs that are both very large and very flash (surprise, surprise?).

There were balloons, clowns and popcorn waiting for us in the foyer - no wonder Rohan enjoys going to work!

'That's my trailer!' exclaims Ruth as she saw our bikes eight storeys below.

In the afternoon, we hosted Vida (3) and Oscar (1) for a few hours. Here you can see a 'Down at the Station' performed as a piano piece for eight hands.
I thought it was pretty good, but Julie later complained that someone was rather overdoing the baseline.
Later on, delicious scones were made by Julie, Oscar and the two penguin girls.
