Amazing Feats

Dear Great Gran,
To celebrate her 3 month birthday, baby Ruth has been showing off some new tricks lately like from rolling from her stomach to her back as well as coughing and sneezing. Fortunately she hasn't learnt to grow spots on her skin like her cousin Joseph. Here she is showing off her new "Here is the church and here is the steeple..." routine with her toes.


As you know we have been fortunate to inherit many hand-me-downs. Here Ruth is unhappy about wearing one of Jane Robbins' bonnets but maybe she is just unhappy about her parents laughing at her. You can't buy bonnets like this anymore. Not only has fashion moved on since Easter 1988 but so has safety standards i.e. long ribbons around baby necks are definitely passe.


I don't know where this next photo came from - I just found it on the camera when I came home from work.

Luddite Communication

Dear Great Gran,
I have abandoned the digital camera and returned to a more old fashioned form of communication: the pen.

Actually, in real life she doesn't have a moustache. And the pen is also the wrong medium to capture the almost-transparent eyebrows and other delicate features, but hopefully you get the general idea.

Gone bush

Dear Great Gran,
With all her bush outings, the little one has been re-enacting roles from May Gibbs books lately.
The weekend before last at Joan & Alan's block, Snugglepie had an adventure with with Grumpa Goanna.

Then last weekend we went out for a walk up, Mt Majura. Eventually. First we got a very good view of Mt Majura from a nearby hill before getting lost for a while and then eventually climbing up the right one! Here we are at the top.

And here we are ambling back down.

Then later in the day we had an evening picnic under the she-oaks by the river with Heather, Jane, Sean, Sandra, Sam and Jack "the Banksia-Man" Dog.

In another recent outing we went to the sculpture garden next to the museum. Here are Joseph and Rohan standing at the sculpture called Spirit Level.

Generation X 4

Dear Great Gran,
I had to wait a while before writing so that the following would seem more newsworthy, rather than what we did last weekend. No matter how much I tried while setting up this pic, I just couldn't get the two great grandmothers to look up (not even for 1/500th of a second!)


There's always some one in every group photo who is looking the wrong way with their eyes shut. Surprisingly, it is not Julie in this next one.


Not that Ruth is incapable of looking up at the camera, when she wants to.


Great Nan and Ruth acted as if they played together all the time.
Ruth pulled out all stops with her new acquired chortling and smiling routine.
