Julie took these two photos of Momo and Ruth yesterday, who were keeping indoors during the heat of the day. Ruth is standing and climbing now but Momo always make sure that he remains the king of the couch.
However, Julie does not stay in doors for very long during the day as she is always running outside starting from the time she jumps out of bed in the morning and continuing until sunset. Why? So she can scare the cockatoos out of the two plum trees down the back! [Editors note: I had hoped I was scaring the daylights out of the cockatoos, not the cockatoos out of the plum trees. Plum trees should be relaxed, to grow fat plums. JC] Julie's battle with the cockies is all consuming: when she rides to work she worries that the cockatoos she sees on the way are doubling back home to get at the plums. You will soon be able to see for yourself who is winning.
Also by the time you visit we should have insulation batts installed just about everywhere in the house: ceiling, walls and we would even put them in the belfry - if only we had one. While installing shadecloth over the front porch, I took this photo of our neighbour's property .
The neighbour who meticulously trimmed the cypress for decades has recently sold up. As the new tenants don't trim the trees, I doubt that they will stay looking like UFOs for very much longer. The UFOs are not to my taste at all, but it is a little sad to see a quirky local landmark disappear.
